NCAA Championship Open Practice Day Set For Thursday With Free Access For General Public

Park Ridge, Ill. - The 2007 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship begins on Thursday, March 15, with the traditional open practice sessions, as the eight teams selected to participate in Chicago will take the court at the United Center in preparation for first round action. The Big Ten Conference will serve as the host of the NCAA First and Second Rounds from March 15-18, with games scheduled for Friday, March 16, and Sunday, March 18.
Thursday's open practice session begins at Noon local time with a 40-minute session for 10th-seeded Georgia Tech and continues through 6:40 p.m., when ninth-seeded Villanova will conclude the day with a 40-minute practice. The open practice day marks an opportunity for college basketball fans to be a part of the NCAA Championship experience even if they are unable to purchase tickets to attend the first and second round games. The United Center doors will open at 11 a.m. on Thursday for open practice day and parking and admission are free of charge. If a large group is planning to attend the event, free parking for buses will be available in Lots B or C. All seats will be open for general admission and concession stands will also be open.
The first round of the 2007 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship will tip-off at the United Center on Friday at 11:25 a.m. with seventh-seeded UNLV battling the Yellow Jackets. The two second-round games are scheduled to begin at 1:36 p.m. on Sunday.
