ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Big Ten announced its 2014-15 men's basketball conference schedule and the format for the 2015 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament on Thursday. The conference season begins on Dec. 30, and culminates with the 18th annual Big Ten Tournament at the United Center in Chicago from March 11-15.

The Big Ten schedule gets started with four games on Tuesday, Dec. 30, including defending Big Ten champion Michigan hosting Illinois and Iowa at Ohio State. Maryland and Rutgers will also open their first Big Ten season on Dec. 30, with reigning Big Ten Tournament champion Michigan State entertaining the Terrapins and the Scarlet Knights hosting Northwestern. The conference season concludes on Sunday, March 8, with Ohio State hosting 2014 Final Four participant Wisconsin, NIT Champion Minnesota entertaining Penn State and Maryland at Nebraska on the final day of the regular season.

The Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament will be held at the United Center for the ninth time, and will feature a five-day format for the first time in conference history. All 14 teams will advance to the tournament, with two first-round games slated for Wednesday, March 11. The No. 12 seed will face the No. 13 seed, while the No. 11 seed will take on the No. 14 seed. The top four teams will receive first and second round byes and advance to the quarterfinals on Friday, March 13.
