Sims averaged 20.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks while shooting 56.7 percent from the field over the weekend, as Michigan defeated Radford and Brown to open the John Beilein era. In only his fourth career start and 27 minutes of play, Sims was productive against Radford, finishing with a career-best 23 points and producing career-bests in field goals (10) and field goal attempts (19). The 23 points marked the first 20-point game of his career. Sims added two steals and seven rebounds against the Highlanders. The Detroit, Mich., native exploded in the second half of the contest against Brown on Sunday to help the Wolverines pull away for their second win of the season. Sims scored 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting, including 3-for-5 from long range. He added four rebounds and two blocked shots. This is the first career weekly accolade for Sims.
