Claxton earns the first Player of the Week honor of the season after making his collegiate debut with a 16-point performance in Penn State's season-opener against Illinois State at the BCA Classic on Sunday.  Claxton hit 56 percent (5-9) from the field and connected on 6-of-8 from the free throw line. He was also only one rebound away from notching his first collegiate double-double with nine boards, while adding one assist in 29 minutes of action.

Claxton becomes the first Penn State player to be named Player of the Week since Jan Jagla was chosen twice last season on Dec. 29, 2003 and Jan. 12, 2004.
