Wooden Award Preseason Watch List
Nov. 15, 2017

Seven Big Ten men’s basketball standouts from six conference schools were named to the John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 on Tuesday.

The list includes Michigan’s Moritz Wagner, Minnesota’s Nate Mason, Northwestern’s Bryant McIntosh, Purdue’s Vincent Edwards, Wisconsin’s Ethan Happ and Miles Bridges and Jaren Jackson Jr. of Michigan State.

The list is comprised of 50 student-athletes who are the early front-runners for college basketball’s most prestigious individual honor, chosen by a preseason poll of national college basketball experts.

Michigan’s Wagner, Michigan State’s Bridges, Minnesota’s Mason, Northwestern’s McIntosh, Purdue’s Edwards and Wisconsin’s Happ return from the 2016 Wooden Award™ All-American Team.

The students on the list are considered strong candidates for the 2018 John R. Wooden Award Men’s Player of the Year presented by Wendy’s. Players not chosen to the preseason list are eligible for the Wooden Award midseason list, late season list and the National Ballot.
