Undefeated Big Ten Squads: Nine Big Ten teams are undefeated during the 2007-08 season as Wisconsin leads the conference with a 4-0 record. The Badgers are closely followed by Iowa with a 3-0 record. Indiana, Michigan State, Penn State, Ohio State and Illinois are all 2-0. Minnesota and Purdue are 1-0 in the non-conference season.
Fountain of Youth: Several underclassmen are making an immediate impact during the non-conference season as either a freshman or sophomore is leading the Big Ten in several of the conference's statistical categories. After two games, Indiana freshman Eric Gordon leads the conference in scoring, averaging 27.0 points per game. Michigan State sophomore Raymar Morgan is pulling down a conference-best 14.5 boards per game. Michigan's Kelvin Grady is a perfect 6-of-6 from the chairty strip, while fellow freshman MSU's Durrell Summers is 4-of-4 from the line tying with five others to lead the Big Ten in free-throw percentage. Minnesota sophomore Kevin Payton is also on that list (2-of-2).
Perfection: Iowa's Todd Lickliter and Minnesota's Tubby Smith remain undefeated in their first year in the Big Ten Conference. Lickliter improved to 3-0 last week with a victory over Florida Gulf Coast. The Hawkeyes will host Maryland Eastern Shore on Tuesday. Smith is 1-0 as the Gophers defeated Army in their season opener at home. The Gophers leave the friendly confines of "The Barn" and travel to Ames, Iowa, to take on the Iowa State Cyclones on Tuesday.
