The conference office announced on Monday the fifth weekly men’s basketball award for games played Dec.7-14. Northwestern freshman Drew Crawford earned his first weekly laurel after helping the Wildcats improve to 7-1 in consecutive seasons for the first time in school history with a convincing win over North Carolina A&T last week.
Player of the Week:
Drew Crawford, Northwestern
6-5 - G/F - Fr.
Naperville, Ill. - Naperville Central
In only his eighth game since making his collegiate debut, freshman Drew Crawford netted eight three-pointers en route to a Big Ten season-high and career-best 35 points in Northwestern’s 90-65 triumph over North Carolina A&T on Sunday. The Naperville, Ill., native nailed six treys and scored 24 points in the first half to set a new record for the most points scored by a NU newcomer. His eight triples were one shy of the Northwestern’s individual single-game record and helped the Wildcats set a new school record with 20 made three-pointers in a single contest. Crawford also contributed five rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots without committing a turnover in 25 minutes of action.
Last Northwestern Player of the Week: John Shurna (Nov. 30, 2009)
