The 2012 Big Ten Menís Basketball Tournament returns to Indianapolis for the fifth consecutive year. This year's tournament will tip off on Thursday, March 8, and the champion will be crowned on Sunday, March 11.

With the integration of Nebraska into the Big Ten Conference, the basketball tournament will feature a different format than years past. The top four finishers in the regular-season standings will receive byes, and the first two days of the tournament will each consist of four games. The tournament bracket will be announced on Sunday, March, 4, the final day of the regular season. The team or teams that finish atop the conference standings will be named Big Ten Champion.

The Big Ten Menís Basketball Tournament has made its mark both nationally and locally in its 14 years of existence. Sellout crowds, exciting and competitive games, national television coverage and throngs of media have been featured in past conference tournaments. It is a highlight reel of college basketball that showcases the finest coaches and student-athletes in the nation.

Since its inception, the Big Ten Menís Basketball Tournament has seen six different conference representatives crowned champion. Ohio State is the only team with three tournament titles (2007, 2010, 2011), while Michigan State (1999, 2000), Illinois (2003, 2005), Iowa (2001, 2006) and Wisconsin (2004, 2008) have claimed the honor twice, and Purdue captured the crown in 2009. In addition, every tournament game in the eventís history has been televised live on CBS Sports, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Plus or BTN.
