Big Ten Football Spring Practice Wraps Up with Nine Spring Games in Coming Weeks
April 14, 2005
With spring football practice concluding across the country later this month, nine of the 11 Big Ten programs will be holding their annual spring football games in the coming weeks. Indiana will be the first League squad to wrap up practice as the Hoosiers spring game is scheduled for Friday, April 15. Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin will take the field one day later on Saturday, April 16 while Illinois, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue will conclude spring drills one week later with a spring game on Saturday, April 23. Due to stadium renovations, Iowa and Michigan State will not take part in a spring game as they conclude spring practice on April 16 and 22, respectively. Three of the Big Ten's spring football games will be televised, as the contests for Illinois, Ohio State and Penn State will be aired on local networks. In addition, the Buckeyes' and Nittany Lions' games will also be televised nationally on a tape-delay basis on CSTV. With the conclusion of spring practice, the next media event will be the 2005 Big Ten Football Media Days and 34th annual Kickoff Luncheon, which will be held on Monday and Tuesday, August 1-2, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, and will feature all 11 head coaches and some of the Conference's top returning players. The 110th season of Big Ten football kicks off from September 1-3 with 10 of the 11 League teams taking the field for non-conference action.
