With two weekends of Big Ten play remaining, Wisconsin has punched its ticket to Indianapolis and will play either Michigan or Nebraska in the second annual Big Ten Football Championship Game. The Badgers will serve as the Leaders Division representative for the second straight season while the Wolverines and Cornhuskers look for their first title game berth. The Big Ten Football Championship Game will be played on Saturday, Dec. 1, at Lucas Oil Stadium with the winner earning the Amos Alonzo Stagg Championship Trophy and a chance to play in the Rose Bowl Game.
Wisconsin improved to 4-2 in the conference with two games remaining. The Badgers hold at least a two-game advantage and head-to-head victories over Illinois, Indiana and Purdue to secure the title game berth. The Badgers host Ohio State next weekend and wrap up on the road against Penn State on Nov. 24. Wisconsin took part in the inaugural Big Ten Football Championship Game last year and earned a 42-39 victory over Michigan State to earn a second straight conference title and trip to the Rose Bowl Game.
Michigan and Nebraska are tied for first in the Legends Division at 5-1 with two games to play. If the Wolverines win and the Cornhuskers lose next Saturday, Michigan will clinch at least a share of the division title but not a title game berth since Nebraska can still tie for the division title and holds the head-to-head tiebreaker. If Nebraska wins and Michigan loses, the Cornhuskers will secure at least a share of the division title and a championship game spot. If both teams win or lose, the division title and championship game berth will be determined by each program’s regular season finale.
The 2012 Big Ten Football Championship Game will begin at 8:17 p.m. ET on Saturday, Dec. 1, and will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Ticket blocks are being held for Wisconsin and either Michigan or Nebraska and will be sold through university ticket offices. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (800) 745-3000. Every Big Ten Football Championship Game ticket will allow complimentary admission to Big Ten Fan Fest presented by Dr Pepper, to be held at the Indiana Convention Center from 3-9 p.m. ET on Friday, Nov. 30, and 10 a.m. through 8 p.m. ET on game day.
