Big Ten Conference Issues Public Reprimand to Illinois and Ohio State Football Head Coaches and Announces Institutional Fines

Nov. 15, 2007

As a direct result of unsportsmanlike conduct involving University of Illinois and Ohio State University student-athletes occurring in the immediate aftermath of the Nov. 10 football game, each institution has been fined $10,000 and Illinois head coach Ron Zook and Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel have been reprimanded by the Big Ten Conference for failing to ensure that their teams conducted themselves in an acceptable fashion.
"The conduct of the student-athletes following last week's game violated our sportslike conduct policy so we have taken the aforementioned actions," said Big Ten Commissioner James E. Delany.

The Big Ten Conference considers this matter concluded and will have no further comment.
