Two Big Ten men's golf teams will open the spring portion of the 2005-06 season this weekend, as Purdue will compete in dual action at Arizona State on Saturday, Feb. 11, while Michigan will take to the course in Orlando, Fla., at the UCF/Rio Pinar Intercollegiate.

Last year marked the 11th straight season the Big Ten boasted at least one team in the NCAA Men's Golf Championships.  In 2005, Purdue represented the conference when it reached its fourth NCAA Championships in the last five years.

Currently, five Big Ten squads are ranked in the Golfweek/Sagarin top 50 ratings, including two in the top 15.  Minnesota is ranked 13th and Northwestern is 14th, while Illinois (36th), defending Big Ten champion Michigan State (37th) and Purdue (40th) are among the top 50.
