Big Ten Golfer of the Week:
Tommy McDonagh, Penn State
Jr. - Wilton, Conn. - St. Luke's
Tommy McDonagh led Penn State in last weekend’s Pinehurst Intercollegiate with an eighth-place finish at four-over par. The Nittany Lion junior sank nine birdies and finished with a card of 73-71-76 (220) to trump ranked opponents such as No. 21 Kelly Kraft of SMU and No. 86 Jack Newman of Michigan State. The Wilton, Conn., native was just two strokes shy of third-place honors and seven back of the tournament champion. McDonagh’s top-10 finish aided his squad to a tie for third place as the Nittany Lions compiled an 887 team score on the weekend. The selection marks the first Big Ten Golfer of the Week award for McDonagh.
