DeForest wins his third Big Ten Golfer of the Week honor of the season after leading the Illini to a win at the Crooked Stick Invitational in Carmel, Ind. The junior won his second tournament of the spring season, finishing first with a six-under par 207, averaging a 69 through the three-round competition. With a low score of 67 in Monday’s second round, DeForest fired a 69 in Monday’s first round and finished with an even 71 in the tournament’s final on Tuesday. Led by DeForest, Illinois finished with a combined score of 859, 15 strokes ahead of the second-place squad to win the team title. The honor is the third of DeForest’s career.
