Minnesota claims the lead through three rounds at the Big Ten Men’s Golf Championships at the Pete Dye Course in French Lick, Ind. The Golden Gophers sit at 32-over through 54 holes and own a seven-stroke lead over the field. Illinois and Purdue (+39) sit in second, while Northwestern is fourth (+43) and Ohio State is fifth (+45).
Minnesota’s Jose Mendez remains in first place, posting an even-par 216 through three rounds. Illinois’ Charlie Danielson (+3) and Northwestern’s Jack Perry (+5) sit in second and third, respectively.

Purdue holds the lead after Day 1 of the Big Ten Men’s Golf Championships, carding an 18-over 594 team score after two rounds. The Boilermakers hold a one-shot lead entering the third round as Illinois and Minnesota (+19) sit in second. Minnesota’s Jose Mendez sits atop the leaderboard with a 1-under 143 (69, 74), while Purdue’s Philippe Schweizer is second (144) and Illinois’ Brian Campbell sits in third (145). During the second round, Ohio State's Boo Timko carded a hole-in-one on the 13th hole.
The third round of the Big Ten Men’s Golf Championships is slated for Saturday morning at 9 a.m. ET.

The Golden Gophers shot a team total of 7-over 295 at the Pete Dye Course, followed by second-place Illinois (+9) and third-place Purdue (+10). Indiana and Northwestern are tied for fourth place (+13). Minnesota’s Jose Mendez sits atop the leaderboard with a 3-under 69, followed by Illinois’ Charlie Danielson and Michigan’s Brett McIntosh in second place with 1-under 71.

The first round of the 2014 Big Ten Men’s Golf Championships is underway at the 7,152-yard, par-72 Pete Dye Course in French Lick, Ind, with the second round following at 1 p.m ET. The third round is slated for 9 a.m. on Saturday, with the final round scheduled for 8 a.m. on Sunday.
Eleven of the top 15 finishers from last season’s Big Ten Championships return to this year’s event. Illinois brings back two top-10 finishers, as Brian Campbell (2nd) and Thomas Detry (T-8th) look to guide the Illini to their sixth straight Big Ten Championship. Other returning players include Indiana’s David Mills (T-8th), Minnesota’s Jon DuToit (T-8th), Northwestern’s Jack Perry (7th), Ohio State’s Boo Timko (4th) and Grant Weaver (T-8th) and Purdue’s Adam Schenk (T-5th).
Four Big Ten teams are ranked among the top 50 according to the latest Golfweek/Sagarin national rankings. Illinois leads the way at No. 7, followed by No. 36 Iowa, No. 45 Northwestern and No. 50 Purdue.
The Illini won their 12th Big Ten Championship, and fifth straight, last season by nine strokes (1,163) over second-place Minnesota (1,172). Iowa finished third (1,186), followed by Ohio State and Indiana in a fourth-place tie (1,190).
