ROSEMONT, Ill. – Eight Big Ten teams and three individuals were selected to compete in the 2017 NCAA Men’s Golf Regionals, as announced on the NCAA Selection Show Thursday. The regional field is divided among six sites and will be held from May 15-17.
Big Ten Champion Illinois earned the No. 2 seed in the West Lafayette Regional, and will compete at Kampen Course in West Lafayette, Ind. Joining the Illini will be the region’s host, seventh-seeded Purdue.
Ninth-seeded Penn State, No.10 Michigan and 11th-seeded Michigan State will begin the postseason at the Aldarra Golf Club in Sammamish, Wash. Ohio State will also travel to the West Coast, and will compete as the No. 10 seed in the Stanford Regional at the Stanford Golf Course.
Northwestern earned the No. 5 seed and Iowa secured the No. 10 seed at the Baton Rouge Regional, and will begin play at the University Club in Baton Rouge, La.
Maryland’s David Kocher (West Lafayette Regional), Minnesota’s Justin Doeden (Stanford Regional) and Nebraska’s Michael Colgate (Sammamish Regional) each earned a berth to compete as individuals in next week’s regionals.
Five teams and one individual not on a qualifying team will advance from each regional to the finals, which will be held May 26-31 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.
