Four Big Ten teams appear in the top-10 of their respective regionals after Round 1 of NCAA Regionals on Thursday. Illinois holds third place in the Norman Regional, while Indiana (Greensboro Regional), Northwestern (Bowling Green Regional) and Purdue (Ann Arbor Regional) sit in ninth-place through day one.
The Fighting Illini posted a 4-under 279 as a team on day one, led by a 4-under 68 by Thomas Pieters and a 3-unver 69 by Luke Guthrie. The Hoosiers' Corey Ziedonis and the Boilermakers' Tyler also carded under-par rounds, firing 1-under 71's on the day.
Iowa (+4) sits at No. 11 in the Athens Regional, while Ohio State (+21) checks in at No. 12 in Ann Arbor.
Competition resumes tomorrow at 8 a.m. local time.
