Final Round of NCAA Men's Golf Regionals Underway
May 19, 2012 Four Big Ten teams remain in the top-10 of their respective regionals heading into the final round on Saturday. Illinois (-1) is third in the Norman Regional, while Northwestern (+11) climbed three spots and is tied for sixth in the Bowling Green Regional. In the Greensboro Regional, Indiana (+15) sits in eighth, while Purdue (+16) is 10th out in Ann Arbor. Iowa (+13) sits in 11th-place in the Athens Regional. After firing a 4-under 68 on Thursday, the Illini's Thomas Pieters carded a 3-under 69 on Friday to lead the Norman Regional. The Wildcats' Jack Perry (-1) turned in the top-round of the day among Big Ten golfers, posting a 4-under 68 in Round 2. The Wolverines' Matt Thompson (-2) turned in a 2-under 69 in the Ann Arbor Regional, which is tied for 12th. The final round of the NCAA Men's Golf Regionals begin Saturday at 7:50 a.m. local time.
