Three Big Ten Teams Hold Top-Three Spots After Day Two of NCAA Men's Golf Regionals

Three Big Ten teams own spots in the top three of their respective regionals after the second day of competition on Friday. Illinois is tied for first place in the Indiana Regional, while Michigan follows in third place at the same site and Ohio State jumped from 11th to third at the San Diego Regional.
The Fighting Illini posted a 1-over 285 to maintain its first-place standing through the second round, sitting in a tie with Alabama entering the final day of competition on Saturday. The Wolverines scored a 4-over 288 to remain in third place. Iowa follows closely in fourth place while host Indiana currently sits in ninth place. Illinois' Scott Langley carded a 2-under 69 to take sole possession of first place individually at 5-under through 36 holes. Iowa's Chris Brant and Michigan's Joey Garber sit in a tie for second place at 3-under.
The Buckeyes turned in a team score of 9-under 279 to lead all Big Ten teams and jump into third place. Michael Cress posted a 4-under 68 and Dan Charen scored a 3-under 69 to lead Ohio State. Northwestern is tied for eighth place at the Colorado Regional, while Purdue sits in 12th at the Arizona Regional.
Saturday's final round begins at 7:30 a.m. local time. The top five teams and top two individuals not on advancing teams in each regional will advance to the NCAA Championships.
