At the conclusion of the round 1 at the Men's NCAA Golf Championships, Illinois leads the Big Ten contingent holding down the tied-for-sixth position with a (+14) 302.  Indiana is 11 strokes behind the Illini shooting a (+25) 313, tying them for 22nd place.  Penn State closely follows the Hoosiers in tied-for-25th place after they shot a first-round score of (+27) 315.  Wisconsin individual Dan Woltman shot a (+10) 82 in round 1 tying him for 120th place.
