Minnesota Ties For Ninth At NCAA Championships

The University of Minnesota men's golf team fired a final round 5-over 285 and finished tied for ninth at the NCAA Men's Golf Championships. The Gophers fired a tournament total 13-over 1133 finishing 24 shots behind national champion Stanford. The top-10 finish marks the second time in as many years the Gophers finished in the top 10 at the national tournament and the third time in six seasons under head coach Brad James.

The Gophers were led on the second consecuitve day by sophomore Victor Almstrom. Almstrom fired at career best 67 in the final round to move him into a tie for 15th at 1-under 279. Almstrom's total of 279 ties for the fifth-best 72-hole tournament in Gopher golf history. The top-15 finish for Almstrom will garner him All-America honors.
