STILLWATER, Okla. - Two Big Ten teams hold top-eight positions through the second day of the NCAA Men's Golf Championships as Illinois closed Round 2 in third place and Ohio State finished the day tied for eighth. The Big Ten contingent will wrap up the stroke-play portion of the championships on Thursday with the top eight teams in the field advancing to match play.

The Fighting Illini fired a 1-under 287 on Day 2, moving from a tie for fifth into third place at 2-over par for the tournament, while the Buckeyes posted a team score of 299 in the second round and hold a team mark of 14-over. Iowa moved into a four-way tie for 12th place after beginning the day tied for 21st. The Hawkeyes carded a second-round score of 292 and sit six strokes out of eighth place at 20-over.

Michigan also moved up in the team standings, jumping into a tie for 16th at 23-over. Northwestern holds 21st place at 26-over.

Individually, two Big Ten golfers hold top-10 spots as Illinois' Luke Guthrie sits in a tie for third at 3-under through 36 holes while Michigan's Lion Kim is tied for sixth at 2-under.

The third and final stroke-play round will begin at 7 a.m. CT on Thursday.
