Big Ten men's golf opens the 2011-12 season this weekend.

All 12 Big Ten men's golf teams break into their fall schedules in September, with Michigan State and Purdue opening play this weekend. The Spartans host the Fossum Invitational on Saturday and Sunday to open the 2011-12 slate, while the Boilermakers travel to Verona, N.Y., for the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate on Sunday and Monday.

The remaining 10 conference teams begin the season a week later. Illinois and Indiana compete in the Northern Intercollegiate in Sugar Grove, Ill., on Sept. 10-11, while Minnesota hosts Iowa, Penn State and Wisconsin at the Golden Gopher Invitational on Sept. 11-12.

Michigan hosts the Wolverine Intercollegiate to open the season and Big Ten newcomer Nebraska competes in the Fairway Club Invitational on Sept. 12-13. Northwestern and Ohio State also compete in their first tournaments on Sept. 12-13 as the squads head to the Marshall Invitational in Huntington, W.V.
