Big Ten Men's Gymnastics Begins 2011 Season This Weekend

The 2011 Big Ten men's gymnastics season begins this weekend, as Penn State hosts Army on Jan. 8 in the conference's first meet of the new season. The conference's five other teams open competition on Jan. 15.

Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio State will all travel to Chicago next weekend to compete for the first time in 2011 at the Windy City Invitational. All five teams will begin dual-meet competition on Jan. 22.

The Big Ten Championships, hosted by Illinois, are set to take place on April 1-2.

Defending national champion Michigan enters the season ranked second in the country by GymInfo. Reigning Big Ten Champion Illinois follows at No. 4, while Ohio State makes its 2011 debut at No. 6. Penn State opens the season at No. 7, while Minnesota checks in at No. 8 and Iowa holds No. 10 entering 2011.
