ROSEMONT, Ill. – The 2015 Big Ten men’s gymnastics season will begin this weekend, with two conference teams competing in their first meets. Illinois, which is ranked No. 5 in the College Gymnastics Association Preseason Coaches’ Poll, will travel to Illinois-Chicago on Friday, while No. 6 Penn State will welcome No. 12 Army to University Park, Pa., on Sunday.
The five remaining Big Ten teams will open their campaign the following weekend. Ninth-ranked Iowa, No. 2 Michigan, No. 7 Minnesota and No. 3 Ohio State will begin their seasons at the Windy City Invitational in Chicago on Saturday, Jan. 17, while No. 10 Nebraska will compete in the Rocky Mountain Open in Colorado Springs, Colo. The first Big Ten dual meets of the season are set for Jan. 24, with Illinois facing Ohio State and Michigan traveling to Penn State.
Last season, Michigan captured its 17th Big Ten Championship and second straight. The 2015 Big Ten Championships will be held in University Park, Pa., from March 27-28.
