Big Ten Men's Gymnastics Season Gets Underway This Weekend

Penn State will officially begin the 2006 men's gymnastics season on Saturday, Jan. 7. The Nittany Lions will open on the road against Army, while Illinois, Ohio State,Michigan, Iowa and Minnesota will compete in the 36th annual Windy City Invitational in Chicago, Ill., on Saturday, Jan. 14.

Last season, the Big Ten supplied four of the six teams that advanced to the NCAA Men's Gymnastics Team Championship finals, but it was the Oklahoma Sooners that took home the team title. The Buckeyes finished the team competition second, just .225 off the Sooners' victorious total. The Fighting Illini placed third and the Nittany Lions came in fourth. The Wolverines rounded out the team competition finalists in sixth place.
