Big Ten men's gymnastics opens the 2012 season this weekend with all seven conference teams competing in their first meets of the year on Saturday. Five teams travel to Chicago to compete in the Windy City Invitational, while Nebraska competes in the Rocky Mountain Open in Colorado Springs, Colo., and Penn State travels to take on Army.
Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio State are set to compete with host No. 12 Illinois-Chicago in the Windy City Invitational on Saturday at 7 p.m. CT. Nebraska takes on host No. 11 Air Force, Arizona State and top-ranked Oklahoma in the Rocky Mountain Open, which is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. MT. Penn State travels to West Point, N.Y., to square off against Army at 7 p.m. ET.
All seven Big Ten teams enter the 2012 season ranked in the top 10 in the GymInfo Preseason Coaches Poll, with preseason Big Ten favorite and reigning conference champion Illinois leading the way at No. 2. Michigan follows at No. 3, while No. 6 Penn State, No. 7 Ohio State, No. 8 Minnesota, No. 9 Nebraska and No. 10 Iowa round out the national top 10.
