Illinois and Ohio State Earn Weekly Men's Gymnastics Honors

Gymnast of the Week Illinois' Paul Ruggeri earns Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honors for the seventh time in his career after leading the fourth-ranked Illini to first place at the Windy City Invitational on Saturday. Ruggeri turned in top-five scores in four of his six events en route to a first-place finish in the all-around with a score of 88.900. The senior took first on the high bar (15.800), second in the floor exercise (15.300), tied for third on the parallel bars (14.600) and tied for fifth on the vault (15.700). He also turned in a 13.900 on the still rings and a 13.600 on the pommel horse. Last Illinois Gymnast of the Week: Paul Ruggeri (March 8, 2010) Freshman of the Week Jeff Treleaven earns the first Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor in Ohio State history after tying for first place on the vault in his collegiate debut at the Windy City Invitational on Saturday. Treleaven posted a score of 15.900 to share the vault title and turned in a score of 14.200 in the floor exercise, which placed him in a tie for 11th place in the event.
