Ohio State's Bateman is honored as Gymnast of the Week

Bateman collected four top-five finishes and earned his first career all-around victory over the weekend.  Bateman notched his first event win of the season in the parallel bars with a score of 15.3.  He scored a 15.15 in the rings to take second place, tied for third in the pommel horse with a 14.05 tally and scored 15.05 on the floor to place fourth.  The Kingsport, Tenn., native also had sixth place finishes in the vault and high bar.  With his 89.1 score in the all-around, Bateman defeated last season's Big Ten Gymnast of the Year in Illinois' Wesley Haagensen.  This is Bateman's first career weekly honor.
