Gymnast of the Week
Tyler Mizoguchi reels in his first Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honor after leading third-ranked Illinois to a win over No. 9 Iowa on Saturday. Mizoguchi took first place in the all-around, finishing in the top five in all six individual events en route to a score of 89.300. The Houston native earned top honors on the parallel bars (15.300), finished second on the horizontal bar (14.000), tied for second on the pommel horse (14.800) and tied for third in the floor exercise (14.800). He also finished fourth on the still rings (14.700) and fifth on the vault (15.700). Mizoguchi's all-around, pommel horse and parallel bars scores were all career-high marks.

Freshman of the Week
Illinois' Jordan Valdez posted two third-place finishes to help the third-ranked Illini defeat Big Ten foe and ninth-ranked Iowa on Saturday and earn the first weekly award of his career. Valdez scored a 14.400 on the parallel bars, setting a career high in the process. The newcomer also tallied a 13.900 on the horizontal bar.
