Michigan and Minnesota Pick Up Weekly Men's Gymnastics Honors

Gymnast of the Week Michigan's Thomas Kelley earns Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honors after posting four top-five finishes and leading the No. 6 Wolverines to a strong showing against No. 2 Oklahoma. Kelley took the high bar title, recording a score of 15.350. He also took third in the floor exercise (14.650), fourth on the still rings (14.750) and fifth on the parallel bars (14.700). Kelley finished with an all-around score of 87.350, good for a tie for second place. The Libertyville, Ill., native's performance helped Michigan to a season-high team score of 355.400. The weekly honor marks the second of Kelley's career. Last Michigan Gymnast of the Week: Mel Anton Santander (March 22, 2010) Freshman of the Week Minnesota's Zack Chase picked up a pair of top-two finishes en route to his second Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor this season. Chase earned a career-high score of 15.100 in the floor exercise, good for first place. The Gopher newcomer also took second on the vault, posting a 16.100, and finished sixth on the pommel horse with a 14.100. His performance led the eighth-ranked Gophers to their highest score of the season and a tri-meet win over No. 11 Air Force and No. 19 Brockport.
