Illinois and Michigan Pick Up Weekly Men's Gymnastics Awards

Gymnast of the Week Illinois' Tyler Mizoguchi earns his third Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honor this season after putting together four top-four finishes against No. 2 Oklahoma and No. 5 Penn State on Saturday. Mizoguchi set career highs in four events and the all-around, taking second place with a score of 90.800. The Houston native earned personal-best scores after taking first place on the parallel bars (15.500), second place on the vault (16.250), tying for fourth on the high bar (14.800) and placing sixth in the floor exercise (15.300). He also recorded a season high on the still rings, scoring a 15.050 to tie for seventh. Last Illinois Gymnast of the Week: Tyler Mizoguchi (Feb. 21, 2011) Freshman of the Week Michigan's Sam Mikulak won four titles, including the all-around crown, against No. 7 Ohio State on Saturday en route to a win for the No. 6 Wolverines and his fourth Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor this season. Mikulak finished with an 87.050 in the all-around and also earned titles on the vault (16.100), in the floor exercise (15.300) and on the parallel bars (14.900). The newcomer took fourth on the pommel horse with a score of 14.250 and posted a 14.300 on the still rings to place sixth. The award marks Mikulak's fourth this season.
