Illinois looks to win its fifth-straight Big Ten Championship after finishing atop the championships field the last four seasons. The Illini aim to become the first conference team to win five consecutive Big Ten Championships since Minnesota achieved the feat from 1976-1980. Illinois leads all conference squads with 27 team championships, followed by the Golden Gophers with 21.

Three gymnasts, Michigan’s Sam Mikulak and Penn State’s Craig Hernandez and Scott Rosenthal, return with hopes of defending their individual titles from a season ago. Mikulak aims to defend his parallel bars and high bar titles, Hernandez is in defense of the pommel horse crown and Rosenthal looks for consecutive still rings championships.

In the team race last season, Illinois held off Michigan by a score of 352.950-351.850 for the team crown. Penn State came in third (350.000), Minnesota finished fourth (345.800), Ohio State was fifth (343.650), Iowa took sixth (342.800) and Nebraska rounded out the field (340.700).
