ROSEMONT, ILL. - The 2017 Big Ten Men's Gymnastics Championships, hosted by the University of Illinois, opens Friday and concludes Saturday at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Ill. Friday's session will feature the team and all-around competitions, while the individual event finals will be held during Saturday evening's portion of the championships. BTN will provide live coverage of both sessions, with events on Friday and Saturday beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

Last season, Ohio State secured its 13th Big Ten Championship title and first since 2007. Illinois finished second, followed by third-place Minnesota, fourth-place Penn State and fifth-place Iowa. The Fighting Illini lead all Big Ten schools with 27 team championships, followed by Minnesota with 21.

Four Big Ten standouts return this season to defend their individual event titles. The Buckeyes return a pair of first-team All-Big Ten selections in Sean Melton and Alec Yoder. Last season, Melton captured four first-place finishes on floor, still rings, parallel bars and in the all-around, earning Gymnast of the Year honors. Yoder took home gold for pommel horse and Big Ten Freshman of the Year accolades.

The Fighting Illini return first-team All-Big Ten selection and defending still rings champion Alex Diab, while Michigan's Anthony McCallum looks to become a back-to-back vault champion.

All seven Big Ten squads enter the conference championships ranked in the latest Road to Nationals Top 20 poll. Ohio State leads the way at No. 3, followed by No. 4 Illinois, No. 5 Minnesota and No. 6 Penn State and No. 7 Nebraska. Iowa and Michigan come in at No. 8 and No. 9, respectively.
