Wisconsin senior defenseman Joe Faust was named the Third Star

ROSEMONT, Ill. -

Wisconsin forward Tyler Barnes, Michigan goalie Zach Nagelvoort and Wisconsin defenseman Joe Faust have been named the Big Ten’s Three Stars for the week ending Nov. 3. Each week throughout the 2013-14 season, the Big Ten will name a first star, second star and third star to honor top individual performers from across the conference.

First Star
Tyler Barnes, Wisconsin
F – Sr. – Eagan, Minn.

  • Tallied four points (two goals, two assists) to lead the Badgers to a win and a tie against No. 12/13 Lake Superior State
  • Scored a pair of third-period goals on Friday, including the game-tying goal with 1:22 remaining in regulation
  • Notched primary assists on two of Wisconsin’s first three goals in Saturday’s victory
  • Matched his career high for goals in a game as well as goals and points in a series
  • Currently tied for sixth in the Big Ten with 1.17 points per game
  • Earned his first career weekly honor

Second Star
Zach Nagelvoort, Michigan
G – Fr. – Holland, Mich.

  • Made 56 saves while posting a .949 save percentage and a 1.47 goals-against average (GAA) in a series sweep of Michigan Tech
  • Made 34 saves in a 3-2 overtime victory on Friday, matching his career high
  • Stopped 22 of 23 shots on Saturday to lead the Wolverines to a 2-1 win
  • Ranks second in the nation in GAA (1.47) and third in save percentage (.948)
  • Claimed his second career Big Ten weekly award
  • Last Michigan honoree: Zach Nagelvoort (Third Star) on Oct. 29, 2013

Third Star
Joe Faust, Wisconsin
D – Sr. – Bloomington, Minn.

  • Recorded four assists and a plus/minus rating of +5 as Wisconsin earned a win and a tie against No. 12/13 Lake Superior State
  • Notched one assist in the third period on Friday as the Badgers rallied for a 3-3 tie
  • Tallied his first career multi-point game on Saturday with three assists
  • Established new career highs for both assists (four) and points (four) in a series
  • Tied for third nationally in assists per game by a defenseman with 1.00 assists per game
  • Claimed his first career Big Ten weekly award
