The conference office announced on Monday the weekly men's indoor track and field awards. Iowa's Justin Austin was tabbed Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week, while Indiana jumper Derek Drouin earned the nod as Field Athlete of the Week.

Sophomore Justin Austin opened the season against Illinois with two individual victories, taking first place in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. In the 200 meter, the Milwaukee, Wis., native finished in a time of 21.49, marking the fastest time in the country so far this season. The Hawkeye continued his success after he posted a time of 6.76 in the 60 meter, a mark that earns him second place on Iowa's all-time top performers list and tied for the 11th-best time in the country. The honor marks the first career weekly accolade for Austin, and he is the first Hawkeye track athlete to take home the honor since the 2001 season.

Field Athlete of the Week
Derek Drouin - Indiana

Junior Derek Drouin began the 2011 indoor season with a pair of first-place finishes at the Indiana Open on Saturday, posting a career-high and an NCAA automatic qualifying mark. The Hoosier cleared 2.27 meters (7-5.25) in the high jump, which ties him for the national lead so far this season. Drouin completed the day by posting a career-best 8.16 in the 60-meter hurdles, which is the fifth-fastest time in Indiana history. The award marks the second weekly laurel for Drouin in his career.
