Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week Announced

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week Chris Rombough, Minnesota Rombough recorded a new Minnesota school record in the 3,000-meter run this past Saturday at the Jack Johnson Classic. His time of 8:00.66 provisionally qualified him for the NCAA Championships meet in March and serves as the top mark in the country so far this season. Rombough pulled away from teammate and 2008 Big Ten Cross Country Athlete of the Year Hassan Mead in the last lap to secure the win. The junior takes home his first indoor Track Athlete of the Week honor. Last Minnesota Indoor Track Athlete of the Week: Ibrahim Kabia (1/19/09) Men’s Field Athlete of the Week R.J. McGinnis, Minnesota McGinnis posted a personal-best score of 5,511 in the heptathlon this past Saturday at the Jack Johnson Classic. His NCAA provisional qualifying mark ranks as the best score in the country so far this season and 5th all-time in Minnesota history. McGinnis was crowned champion in four out of the seven heptathlon events, including the 60-meter high hurdles, long jump, high jump and 60-meter dash.
