Indiana and Ohio State Earn Weekly Track and Field Honors

Track Athlete of the Week Indiana's Andy Bayer earns his second consecutive weekly award of the season after clocking a time of 3:57.75 for the world's fastest mile this season at the Indiana Relays last weekend. Bayer was the collegiate leader entering the meet, and with his time became the first runner in the nation to surpass the NCAA qualifying standard of 3:59.00 this season. Field Athlete of the Week Ohio State's Matt DeChant posted a pair of personal records over the weekend at the Penn State National Invitational, including a first place finish in the shot put at 19.82 meters. The mark is the second-best in the nation this season and the sixth-best throw in school history. The junior also took home a second-place finish in the weight throw with a score of 19.97 meters.
