Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota Garner Weekly Awards

Track Athlete of the Week Illinois' Andrew Riley clocked an time of 7.69 which ranks as second-fastest in the NCAA this season, in the semifinals of the 60-meter hurdles before winning the event title with a time of 7.71 in the finals at the Tyson Invitational. The Kingston, Jamaica natives effort in the semifinals highlighted the first day of action as his time automatically qualified him for the NCAA Championships. Last Illinois Track Athlete of the Week: Gakologelwang Masheto (Jan. 19, 2009) Co-Field Athletes of the Week Indiana's Derek Drouin earns his second weekly award of the season after placing second in the men's high jump last weekend at the Tyson Invitational. Drouin's mark of 2.27 meters, matches his season best and is currently ranked as the third-highest score in NCAA Division I so far this season. This mark is an inch better than the NCAA automatic-qualifying standard and leads the Big Ten by 2.25 inches. Last Indiana Field Athlete of the Week: Derek Drouin (Jan. 10, 2011) Ben Peterson - Minnesota Minnesota's Ben Peterson highlighted the Golden Gophers' performance last weekend at the Iowa State Classic. The senior won the title in the pole vault, clearing a career-best height of 17 feet, 9 inches, the fifth-best vault in Minnesota history and ninth-best in NCAA Division I so far this season. This marks the first weekly award of Peterson's career and the second for the Gophers this season.
