Wisconsin Takes Lead After First Day of the Big Ten Championships

Wisconsin got off to a strong start on the first day of the 2013 Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday. The Badgers won two events on Friday, including Danny Block in the shot put (19.40 meters) and Maverick Darling in the 3,000-meter run (7:50.97), totaling 39 points. Nebraska sits in second with 29.7 points, with Indiana in third place with 27 points.
Indiana's Scott Houston won the pole vault (5.32 meters), while Nebraska's Patrick Raedler took home the long jump crown (7.87 meters). Penn State's team of Robby Creese, Matt Gilmore, Ryan Brennan and Brannon Kidder won the distance medley relay (9:39.87).
