Nebraska Takes Lead After First Day of the Big Ten Championships
Feb. 24, 2012 Nebraska got off to a strong start on the first day of the 2012 Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday. The Huskers won two events on Friday, including Chris Phipps in the long jump (7.73 meters) and Luke Pinkelman in the shot put (19.43), totaling 45 points. Wisconsin sits in second with 32 points, with Ohio State in third place with 27 points. Indiana's Andrew Bayer won the 3,000-meter run (8:01.38), while Ohio State's Heath Nickles took home the pole vault crown (5.32 meters). Penn State's team of Wade Endress, Aaron Nadolsky, Casimir Loxson and Robby Creese won the distance medley relay (9.44.40). Action resumes at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday.
