Indiana and Nebraska took home top five finishes on day one of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Nampa, Idaho. Indiana's De'Sean Turner, Chris Vaughn, Daniel Stockberger and Andrew Bayer clocked a time of 9:35.67 to earn second place in the relay event, while Kind Butler placed fourth in the 200-meter dash (20.78). Nebraska's Chris Phipps leaped 7.82 meters to earn a fifth place finish in the long jump.
Additionally, five Big Ten student-athletes qualified for the finals in their respective events. Illinois' Andrew Riley (60 dash, 60 hurdles), Indiana's Bayer (mile), Iowa's Erik Sowinski (800 meter), Minnesota's David Puchuta (Minnesota) and Ohio State's Thomas Murdaugh (400 dash) will compete in the finals set for today.
