Men's Indoor Track Postseason Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Big Ten Conference announced the 2017 Big Ten Men's Indoor Track and Field postseason award winners on Thursday following the NCAA Championships. Penn State's Isaiah Harris earned Track Athlete of the Year recognition. Michigan's Grant Cartwright claimed Field Athlete of the Year honors, while Indiana's Kyle Mau was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year.

Harris earned first team All-America honors and finished fourth at the NCAA Championships in the 800-meter race with a time of 1:47.94, less than .50 seconds behind the first-place finisher. The Lewiston, Maine, native also claimed the Big Ten title in the same event with a time of 1:47.23 at the Big Ten Championships. Harris is just the second Penn State student to claim Big Ten Track Athlete of the Year recognition and the first since Casimir Loxsom in 2013.

Cartwright finished second in the men's weight throw at the NCAA Championships with a mark of 22.70 meters earning first team All-America recognition. At the Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships, Cartwright set a Michigan school record with a heave of 23.31 meters. Cartwright is the first Michigan student to claim Big Ten Field Athlete of the Year recognition.

Kyle Mau anchored Indiana's distance medley relay team at the NCAA Championships, propelling the foursome to a fifth-place finish with a time of 9:34.17. At the Big Ten Championships, Mau finished third in the one-mile race with a time of 4:03.39 and ran the final leg of the distance medley relay, leading his team to a first-place finish with a time of 9:34.20. Mau is the third Indiana student to be named Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors and the first since Andy Bayer in 2010.
