Maryland Advances to Men’s Lacrosse Semifinals

NEWARK, Del. – Top-seeded Maryland advanced to its fourth consecutive NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Final Four on Saturday after posting an 18-9 win over eighth-seeded Albany in the quarterfinals. The Terrapins will take on Denver in next Saturday’s national semifinals at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Matt Rambo totaled eight points on four goals and four assists. Connor Kelly tallied a game-high five goals for the Terps. Goalie Dan Morris made 10 saves between the pipes. Maryland jumped out to a 12-4 lead at halftime and led 17-5 after three quarters. The Terrapins, which advanced to the national championship game in 2015 and 2016, secured their sixth Final Four berth in the past seven years.

Maryland earned the outright Big Ten Championship and won the 2017 Big Ten Tournament. The Terrapins are 14-3 on the season. The Big Ten will send two teams to championship weekend after Ohio State secured its first Final Four berth on Saturday.
