The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released its preseason rankings on Monday with Indiana, Maryland, Michigan State and Penn State garnering recognition among the top 25, while Northwestern and Ohio State were also receiving votes.
Michigan State came in at No. 9 in the preseason poll. The Spartans will challenge Portland on August 28.
Maryland claimed the No. 13 spot this week. The Terrapins are set to play Notre Dame at the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic in Bloomington, Ind. on August 28.
Indiana secured the No. 14 position. The Hoosiers will host St. John’s as they open their season in the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic on August 28.
Penn State entered the season at No. 23. The Nittany Lions are set to entertain San Francisco on August 28.
Northwestern and Ohio State were receiving votes in the preseason rankings. The Wildcats will open their season at home against Colgate on August 29, while the Buckeyes will host Cal State Fullerton in the Bert & Iris Wolstein Classic on August 28.
