Big Ten men’s soccer teams hit the pitch for the first matches of the 2011 season this weekend. Four of the teams begin the season on their home field, while other squads start the season on the road or at neutral sites.
Friday’s matches begin with Eastern Illinois traveling to take on Northwestern at 5 p.m. CT and Bowling Green hosting No. 9 Michigan at 6 p.m. ET.
Saturday’s games feature four of the five nationally ranked Big Ten teams as No. 19 Michigan State hosts Detroit Mercy at 2 p.m. ET and No. 15 Ohio State takes on American at 5 p.m. ET. Eighteenth-ranked Penn State hosts Siena at 7 p.m. ET while Western Illinois visits Wisconsin at 7 p.m. CT. Fifteenth-ranked Ohio State visits Notre Dame to face the twelfth-ranked Fighting Irish at 7:30 p.m. ET.
