Big Ten Men's Soccer Opens 2016 Season This Weekend

ROSEMONT, Ill. - The 2016 Big Ten men's soccer season is set to get underway this weekend, with all nine conference teams officially beginning the campaign on Friday.

On Friday, No. 15 Indiana will take on New Mexico in a neutral site match while fourth-ranked Maryland will travel west to take on No. 16 UCLA. Michigan and Michigan State are on the road at 19th-ranked South Florida and Southern Methodist, respectively. Northwestern will compete at home against Florida Gulf Coast while No. 18 Ohio State will play host to Virginia Tech. Penn State hits the road to open the season against top-ranked Stanford. Rutgers will take on No. 7 Creighton at home and Wisconsin will play host to Santa Clara.

Last season, Maryland won the Big Ten Championship and tournament titles for the second straight season. Heading into the 2016 campaign, the Terrapins were tabbed as the Big Ten preseason favorite in the Big Ten Preseason Coaches Poll.
