Big Ten Men's Soccer Opens 2008 Season This Weekend

Aug. 27, 2008

All seven conference squads are in action this weekend to open the 2008 season of Big Ten men’s soccer. Preseason favorite Indiana, as well as Northwestern, Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State, open the campaign with tournaments on their home fields. On the road, Penn State will travel to Columbus, Ohio, for the Buckeyes’ Wolstein Classic, and Wisconsin journeys to the University of Dayton for the Dayton Flyer Classic.

The Big Ten Network will air live coverage of Sunday’s matchup between Indiana and Akron at 2 p.m. ET.

Four Big Ten squads competed in the NCAA Championship last season with Ohio State playing in the national title game. The Hoosiers lead the Big Ten in the NSCAA/adidas preseason national rankings at No. 7. Closely behind are the Buckeyes at No. 9, and rounding out the conference in the poll is Northwestern at No. 20.
