Offensive Player of the Week
Victor Diaz, Wisconsin
SO, F, Madrid, Spain/I.E.S. Sefarad
Diaz earns his first weekly accolade of the 2006 campaign after leading Wisconsin to a 2-0 record this past weekend. The Badgers defeated Lipscomb, 1-0, on Friday before the sophomore forward tallied his first-career hat trick against IPFW (Indiana Purdue-Fort Wayne) on Sunday. He notched the first goal of his three-goal performance just 2:18 minutes into the second half. Diaz then went on to score UW's third and fourth goals just 40 seconds apart as the Badgers defeated IPFW, 7-0. This is the first Player of the Week honor of Diaz's career as he is the first Badger to earn weekly laurels since Nic Van Sicklen accomplished the feat on Oct. 11, 2004.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jake Settle, Wisconsin
SR, GK, Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy
Settle was named Defensive Player of the Week after shutting out both Lipscomb and IPFW and leading Wisconsin to the UW-Milwaukee Panther Invitational title. In over 154 minutes of play, the senior goalie did not allow a goal while tallying six saves. On Friday, Settle recorded a season-high five saves and his second-consecutive shutout. The Badgers have not given up a goal in 270 minutes of play while Settle has accounted for all but 25:25 of that stretch.
