Northwestern and Penn State Garner Men's Soccer Weekly Awards

Penn State's Owen Griffith was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Park Ridge, Ill. - Northwestern and Penn State have earned Big Ten men’s soccer weekly honors, it was announced on Monday. Wildcat midfielder Chris Ritter takes home Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Nittany Lion defender Owen Griffith earns the nod on the defensive end.

  • Scored a game-winning goal and added two assists in a pair of Wildcat victories last weekend
  • Is tied for Northwestern’s team lead with six points
  • Named MVP of the NIU adidas Invite
  • Earns the third weekly award of his career

  • Helped the Nittany Lions shut out West Virginia last week
  • Guided the Penn State back line to limit the Mountaineers to four shots on goal
  • Played all 110 minutes in the double-overtime game
  • Earns the first weekly award of his career
